It was during my studies through Childbirth International that I found out about my second child. For this birth, I hired a doula- and I do believe it was one of the most important things I did! Having her support for my husband and myself, her friendship, knowledge and presence through my pregnancy and labor was something I will always treasure, and it affirmed my desire to offer childbirth support to other women as well.
I am a mother of two boys, Aidan, born April 1st of 2005 and Ciaran, born November 17th of 2006.
After my first birth I was so fascinated by the entire process and experience of pregnancy and labor that I knew it was what I was meant to be around, and I knew I wanted to learn how to help support women through such an amazing and special time in their lives.

It is my opinion that a doula’s role changes from birth to birth and mother to mother for each mother will need her doula in a different capacity. Some may want a hands on, strong supporter standing at her side with every surge. Others may need a quieter kind of support, one of information and knowledge, who stands back and gently supports mom from behind or beside her partner. Hired by the mother, for the mother, my role as your doula is yours to create.
